RMIT VIETNAM - Successful Teaching and Learning Methods

RMIT International University Vietnam is fully owned by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, one of the world's top 100 universities with campuses in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The University has grown rapidly over the past five years, and now has in excess of 1,800 undergraduate and postgraduate students including international students from the US, Russia, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Australia.
RMIT Vietnam delivers degrees in Commerce, Business (Marketing and Accountancy), Information Technology and Design (Multimedia Systems), as well as postgraduate degrees including a Master of Education (Leadership & Management) and a Master of Business Administration. The University degrees are awarded by RMIT University in Australia. All degrees are recog­nized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Educa­tion and Training (MOET) and audited by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) to ensure quality and educational outcomes. The University also provides training through lectures, seminars and workshops and corporate training to over 70 local and international clients including government authorities and NGOs.
 
Academic lecturers come from around the world and are internationally qualified with Masters and Doctoral degrees. All have extensive industry experience. They bring to their roles at the University a thorough knowl­edge of business and industry, as well as other teaching experiences from overseas and international universities.
 
RMIT Vietnam quality and contribution to the community has been recognized through various awards. The University won the "Golden Dragon Prize" which honours successful foreign enterprises for three consecutive years from 2003 to 2005. Amongst the expatriate community, the University won the "Business Innovation Award" in 2003 and the "Community Service Award" in 2004 at the annual Australian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
 
In its five years of operations in Vietnam, RMIT Vietnam has been highly successful in developing a reputation and recognition for its high quality and innovative teaching and learning methods. Education has always been one of the most important issues for Vietnam's social and economic future and RMIT Vietnam is commit­ted to adding value to the most important resource that Vietnam possesses - its people. As part of RMIT Vietnam's commitment to providing world class, professional education and training, 335 scholarships have been awarded to students in a range of undergradu­ate and postgraduate programs and vocational training. Scholarships include postgraduate degree program such as Master of Education, Master by Research, vocational training which includes English for Health Workers and under­graduate degrees for financially disadvantage students. RMIT Vietnam has also cooperated with major international companies such as HP, Foster's and Nortel to offer scholarships to Vietnamese students.
Commencing with only 27 graduates in 2004, RMIT Vietnam has produced more than 200 alumni who now join over 180, 000 RMIT Alumni around the world. RMIT Vietnam graduates have a competitive edge as they graduate with the qualifications, skills and confidence that is needed to work in today's increasing global business community.
 
In the future, RMIT International University Vietnam will develop a range of programs which will meet Vietnam's economic and social development needs.
