Shirai Opens US$88Mln Furniture Factory in Vietnam
Japanese invested Shirai Vietnam has already started the operations of a wooden furniture factory worth US$88 million in Amata Industrial Park in the southern province of Dong Nai’s Bien Hoa city.
The presence of Shirai has increased a number of projects with Japanese involvement in Amata to 38.
In a related development, Taiwan’s Lovetex has singed a contract to build a factory in Amata IP to manufacture fabrics such as webbing, hooks, loop tapes and elastics.
The US$9 million company, the 17th Taiwan-invested venture in Amata, will export 60 per cent of the factory’s output.
The IP has to date attracted 88 investment projects, most of them are foreign-owned. Japanese investors take the lead with 36 projects, followed by Taiwan with 18, the US with seven, Korea with six and Singapore with two.
The IP says it has leased out 100ha of the 232ha second phase and is developing infrastructure for the rest.
