Vietnam Airlines Selects Rolls-Royce Engines for Airbus A321s
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has decided to choose V2500 engines of Rolls-Royce for its 10 Airbus A321s in order to expand its fleet, state media reports.
A contract between Vietnam Airlines and Rolls-Royce is worth $55 million.
According to the carrier, six Airbus A321s will be delivered in early next year and the remainder of four in 2008.
Currently, Vietnam Airlines are operating 39 planes, including Focker, ATR72, A320, A321, B767, B777 and B787.
The airline is looking to add 17 aircraft to its fleet by 2010. It also plans to spend $3 billion to boost its fleet to 100 aircraft by 2020, which is roughly the size of most major Asian airlines.
