Vietnam-US Economic Cooperation Fair to Open in September
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the US counterpart will jointly organize a Vietnam-US economic cooperation fair at the Giang Vo Exhibition and Fair Center in Hanoi on September 6-9.
The event, which is prior to the upcoming visit of the US President George W.Bush to Vietnam to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Hanoi in November and to celebrate 11th anniversary of normalization of relations between the two countries, is expected to help Vietnamese and American enterprises to introduce and promote their products, and boost economic and trade cooperation.
The fair themed “Vietnam – Potential Investment Opportunities” is expected to draw the attention of 250 Vietnamese and US enterprises that will display products in the fields of industry, oil and gas exploitation, insurance, tourism, telecom, finance and banking, and seafood processing.
Seminars and discussion about investment opportunities and business development between the two sides will also be on the agenda.
In addition, many economic agreements are also expected to be signed at the fair.
In 2005, Vietnam-US trade hit a record of US$7.8 billion. Of the figure, Vietnam earned US$6.6 billion from stateside exports and spent US$1.2 billion for imports from the US.
