The Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a deal with the Vietnamese Government to take over and implement a non-refundable technical support project with an objective of diffusing cultivation information and technology to reduce poverty in the Vietnamese mountainous and remote areas in Hanoi on August 4.

The Japanese Government’s Poverty Reduction Fund sponsored US$820,000 to the project and the Vietnamese Government contributed US$80,000.

The project will be carried out in several poor and mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. It will focus on community-based programmes to develop agricultural production and increase incomes for locals. The project will also help grassroots agricultural promotion staff improve skills, builds learning network for farmers and develops new methods for planning and evaluation.
