Fibre Imports Hit US$249.6Mln in First Half
Vietnam imported 161,100 tons of fibre worth US$249.6 million in the first half of this year, up 23.9 per cent in volume and 24.6 per cent in value on-year, according to Customs General Department.
In the period, Taiwan was Vietnam’s biggest fibre supplier with 86,028 tons worth US$116.64 million. In June alone, Taiwan sold 16,900 tons valued at US$23.8 million to Vietnam, up 186.8 per cent in volume and 202.6 per cent in value on-year.
Besides, Vietnam imported over 14 million tons of fibre from South Korea, Malaysia and China each in the first half.
The country’s other fibre suppliers in the period were India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, the US, Italy and France.
