Japan to Help Vietnam Develops Energy Master Plan
Japan will assist Vietnam to carry out a study for the national energy master plan until 2025 through its Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a JICA official said.
The scope of work for the Study on National Energy Master Plan was agreed in Hanoi on September 28 through a contract signed by Hiroaki Nakagawa, Resident Representative of JICA in Vietnam and Pham Khanh Toan, Director of Institute of Energy under Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry.
Japan wanted to contribute more to Vietnam’s strongly developing economy by supporting the implementation of the Study, said Hiroaki Nakagawa at the signing ceremony.
He said the project was of great importance to helping the Vietnamese Government work out a master plan in order to ensure national energy security.
The 17-month project aims to build a national database, including socioeconomic data and energy data covering electric power, coal, oil and gas, and renewable energy.
The project is expected to improve the capacity of the staff of relevant agencies under the Ministry of Industry.
Based on the results of the project, JICA will put forth suitable measures to assist Vietnam in the near future, said Hayashi.
