Vietnam to Operate 11 New Cement Plants Ahead of Schedule

The cement industry in Vietnam will put into operation 11 new cement plants ahead of schedule, said the Ministry of Construction after implementing the cement industry development plan until 2010, a vision to 2020 for a period of time.
 
Besides, 21 other cement factories will operate as scheduled, including Haiphong cement plant, Song Giang cement plant and three others; 11 projects behind schedule and 17 projects have not been yet defined for time of operation.
 
Specifically, of the 17 projects, 10 cement plants will be shifted from blast furnace to reverter furnace and seven are new ones including Trang An, Thanh Liem, Lien Khe, Quang Minh, Lai Chau, Lam Thao, Dien Bien cement plants.
 
In 2007, the will operate eight new cement production lines and transformed three blast furnace plants into reverter furnace ones, which will help add eight million tons to the market, says the ministry.
 
Recently, the ministry has warned the industry of surpluses of five million tons in 2009 and 10 million tons in 2011.
 
Currently, the industry with around 70 cement plants and some 30 grinding stations turns out a total of 32 million tons each year, meeting 80 per cent of local demand.
