Farmers in several underdeveloped provinces of Vietnam will be able to get instant access to market and price information through a programme sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), Intel and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Under the cooperative framework between the UNDP and MARD to improve Vietnam’s administrative reform, Intel will install 13 sets of computers for 13 centres in 10 provinces and cities to distribute information on agriculture markets through the community broadcast system. Mr. Subinay Nandy, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, said: This is a three-year pilot project. If successful, this model will be multiplied to bring benefits for the agriculture sector as well as increase farmers’ incomes and agricultural production efficiency throughout Vietnam.”
