Enhancing with Laos, Cambodia and Thailand
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the government delegation paid a working visit to Cambodia, Laos and Thailand from December 18 to 21, 2006 upon the invitation by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hunsen, Laotian Prime Minister Buasone Bouphavanh and Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont. The Vietnamese delegation visited Cambodia on December 18-19, Laos on December 19-20 and Thailand on December 20-21.
The visit is hoped to strengthen the traditional relationship with these countries, exchange options and measures to boost multifaceted ties with these countries and share their viewpoints of the regional and international issues of the common concerns.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Prime Minister attended at inaugural ceremony for a friendship bridge linking Thailand's Mucdahan and Laos' Savanakhet on December 20. This is an important activity of the Prime Minister during his three-country visit. The Friendship Bridge not only serves the travel demand between Laos and Thailand but also shortens the travelling distance between Vietnam and Thailand, facilitating the trading activities between the three countries as well as individual countries in Indochina.
