Agifish Exports 20,000 Tons of Tra, Basa Catfish
The Mekong Delta An Giang province-based Fisheries Import & Export Joint-stock Company (Agifish) shipped abroad 20,000 tons of tra and basa catfish finished products so far this year, becoming the second biggest fish exporter in Vietnam.
Agifish has reached total revenues of VND1.15 trillion ($71.88 million), up 145 per cent on-year, and an export turnover of $58 million, a rise of 143 per cent against last year.
The company operates the Frozen Factory No. 1 with an annual capacity of 28,000-30,000 tons. It is currently carrying out a project worth VND100 billion ($6.25 million) constructing a complex to process by-products from tra and basa catfish.
Agifish An Giang is considered a promising enterprise in Vietnam’s fisheries sector. It is making efforts in building the clean fish product trademark Agifish (APPU) in early 2007. (fistenet.gov.vn)
