Dong Nai Expects $1.2Bln FDI This Year

The southern province of Dong Nai hopes to attract around US$1.2 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) this year, sate media reported.
 
The province lured 448 FDI projects in 2006, providing over 251,000 jobs. In 2007, it will focus on developing 16 key industrial sectors, including engineering, electricity, electronics, new materials, and high technology.
 
So far, FDI into the provincial industrial parks (IPs) has reached to nearly US$9 billion for 760 projects, ranking third nationwide. Dong Nai is currently home to 21 operational IPs. It also plans to set up 32 new IPs covering an estimated area of 11,000 ha and 34 industrial complexes as part of its effort to become the main industrial hub of the country.
 
In 2006, the province obtained an industrial production value of roughly VND35.7 trillion (US$2.2 billion).
