PetroVietnam to Build Gas Pipeline to Fuel O Mon Power Plant
State-run Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) will build a gas pipeline to fuel O Mon power plant in southern Can Tho City, Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper reported.
The pipeline will bring 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Block B offshore southern Vietnam to 600-MW O Mon power plant, the company said.
The US$780-million pipeline is expected to start operations in 2010, PetroVietnam added.
The US$555-million O Mon thermal power plant, invested by the Electricity of Vietnam, will generate 3.6 billion kWh of electricity a year.
PetroVietnam is also negotiating to buy gas from Natuna field in Indonesia to feed gas-fueled production facilities in southern Vietnam. (Investment)
