Nghi Son Cement Company kicked off construction on a cement delivery station valued at US$40 million in the central province of Khanh Hoa’s Ninh Thuy district on July 25.

Set for operation in July 2009, the station is expected to handle 500,000 tons a year, which will delivered in the central region, said a company official. Covering an area of 20 hectares, the facility will be Nghi Son’s second delivery station after another one in Ho Chi Minh City, the official noted.

The facility is part of a $240-million project to raise capacity of Nghi Son cement plant to 4.4 million tons a year, he said, adding that the company will build another cement factory in central province of Thanh Hoa.

The production output of cement plants will exceed the domestic construction demand in 2010 by 10-12 million tons, said Nguyen Ngoc Thien, chairman of the Vietnam Cement Association. The country will have 45 operating cement plants with combined capacity over 60 million tons by then. (Vietnam & World Economy)
