Vietnam, Russia Ink US$1Bln Contracts
Vietnamese businesses and Russian counterparts signed a series of contracts valued at more than US$1 billion at the two-side business forum on September 12 during the visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, state media said.
The investment deals reached at the event included a property deal worth US$400 million and a turbine production joint-venture and a seafood processing plant valued at US$150 million each in Vietnam.
The forum also witnessed the signing of agreements to support projects including a US$200 trade center by investors in Ho Chi Minh City, a US$20 million office and trade center project and a US$20 million seafood supermarket.
PM Dung pledged favorable conditions for foreign investors including Russian companies to invest into Vietnam.
On the same day, the Vietnamese government leader visited the Russian national gas corporation Gazprom, food company Future Group and talked with a number of representatives from leading Russian businesses.
Russian investors have to date poured over US$300 million into around 50 projects in the Southeast-Asian country and Vietnam now has 11 projects in Russia worth US$70 million. (VNA, Youth)
