Vinashin's Pha Rung Shipyard Launches 6,500 DWT Oil Tanker
Pha Rung shipyard, an affiliate of Vinashin Business Group, has recently launched a 6,500 DWT oil tanker, which will be delivered to South Korea’s YM Shipping company.
The YN Ocean that is measured at 110 meters in length and 18.2 meters in breadth is designed to run at speed of 13 nautical miles per hour, said a Pha Rung official.
The ship is the first among a series of five vessels contracted between the two companies, he noted.
YN Ocean, designed by South Korea’s Asia Ship Design & Consultants Co., (ASDEC), is constructed under the supervision of the Korean Registration Agency.
Vinashin, Vietnam’s largest shipbuilder with current 25 shipyards plans to build an additional seven shipyards, six shipbuilding industrial parks and seven shipbuilding industrial complexes nationwide. The company expects to attain revenues of US$1 billion this year, up from US$690 million in 2005.
Vinashin, set up in 1995, now has up to 100 affiliates in nearly 30 provinces and cities nationwide. (Investment)
