Work to Start on Noi Bai Airporttâ€s US$419-Mln Terminal in October

The Transport Ministry will kick off construction of the second passenger terminal (T2) worth some US$419 million at the Noi Bai International Airport in October this year, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
 
The capital will come from the national reserve capital through the Vietnam Development Bank.
 
Once it is completed in October 2010, the terminal T2 is expected to receive 10 million passengers per year.
 
The airport’s the existing T1 terminal is now capable of serving 6 million passengers on domestic flights.
 
Under the ministry’s master plan to expand Noi Bai International Airport, the airport will receive more investments in the coming time, aiming to raise its transport capacity to 50 million passengers annually.
 
The ministry is now instructing relevant agencies to urgently complete necessary preparations for the terminal construction.
 
Vietnam, now home to 22 airports, is forecast to see air passenger traffic more than double to 32.4 million people by 2020 from 14.5 million a year now.
 
It accommodates some 40 airlines, including 36 foreign ones, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. (VNA)
