Vietnam to Build First Solar Panel, Cell Plant
Vietnam will start building the first solar panel and cell manufacturing factory March 20 at Hoa Duc Plastics Industrial Park located in southern Long An province.
Ho Chi Minh City Energy Conservation Center (ECC), in cooperation with the Red Sun Energy Joint Stock Company, will invest US$10 million into the factory, with France-based Sunwatt Group acting as the primary technical consultant.
The plant will assemble solar panels from solar cells imported from France and German at a production capacity of 3 MWp per year in the first phase.
In the second stage, the factory will be able to manufacture solar cells with an annual output of 5 MWp.
Forty percent of the factory’s products will serve local demand, while the remainder will be exported. The products will be guaranteed for five years and will have a life expectancy of 20 years.
The plant is expected to begin operating after construction finishes in six months. (Thanh Nien Daily)
