Austrian Firm to Ink US$42.3 Mln Deal for Xekaman 3 Hydropower Plant

Vatech Hydro GmbH Group of Austria April 17 will ink a US$42.3 million deal to supply electric equipment and technical services for Xekaman 3 hydropower plant.
 
The deal belongs to bidding package No. 3.2.1 of the hydropower project.
 
Xekaman 3 hydropower plant costs a total of US$311.7 million and is underway in Dakchung district, Sekong province of Laos.
 
The two-turbine plant, with Song Da Corp being the general contractor, has a capacity of 250 MW when fully operational in September 0f 2010.
 
The plant is expected to generate over one billion kWh of electricity per year, of which 90 percent will be sold to Vietnam and the rest will fuel Laos.
 
The Xekaman 3 Hydropower Limited Company, the project’ investor, is wholly owned by the Viet-Lao Power Joint Stock Company (VLPC). (Investment)
