Nakashima Starts to Build Second Propellers Factory in Northern Vietnam
Nakashima Vietnam Ltd. Co., June 24 started construction on a screw-propellers factory worth US$18 million in northern Haiphong port city&rsquos Dinh Vu Industrial Park (IP).
 
The factory is the second invested by Nakashima in the city and the first Japanese-invested project in Dinh Vu IP.
 
The plant, which is designed to make 500 tons of products for 80,000-ton ships, is scheduled for operation in April 2009.
 
Located at Normura IP, Nakashima&rsquos first factory worth US$7.24 million specializes in producing screw-propellers for small-sized vessels.
 
Dinh Vu Development Joint Venture Company has received an investment certificate for building the second phase of Dinh Vu IP with a total investment capital of VND2.34 trillion (US$146.2 million).
 
By the end of 2007, the IP had attracted 23 foreign-invested projects worth over US$700 million. It is targeted to pull in an additional 430 million in foreign investment this year, according to Vietnam News Agency. (Vietnam Economic Times)
