Govt Chief Proposes Closer Cooperation with Australia
Receiving Australian FM Stephen Smith this morning, July 2, PM Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that, Vietnam and Australia should make full use of their advantages in bilateral cooperation for their respective development.
 
Showing his satisfaction of vigorous advances of the multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, PM Dung suggested the two countries boost up political and diplomatic ties and cooperation on bilateral and multilateral forums.
 
Mentioning economic relations, the host expected that Australia would welcome more Vietnamese investors in coal and mineral industries as well as facilitate the export of Vietnamese agro and marine products into Australia. The Government chief also asked Australia to recognize Vietnam&rsquos market economy.
 
PM Dung proposed some fields for stronger cooperation in the time to come, including education, labor, judiciary, and security. He urged the two countries to negotiate and ink agreements on labor cooperation and judicial assistance.
 
FM Stephen Smith affirmed that Australia always attaches importance to the relationship with Vietnam and expects Vietnam to support Australia in obtaining an ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand free trade treaty. The guest pledged to provide more scholarship for Vietnamese students. (www.chinhphu.vn)
