Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the nod to a plan developing Chan Economic Zone (EZ) in Phu Loc district, central Thua Thien Hue province into a modern international commercial center by 2025, local media reported.

The center will consist of Chan May port covering 370ha, an urban area and a commercial, financial, medical and educational complex on an area of 1,500ha and a 4,570-ha high-grade tourist site and a 2,040-ha free-duty, industrial and hi-tech area.

Under the plan, a 52m-wide road linking the EZ to highway 1A and the six-lane North-South Expressway will be build.

Once completed in 2025, the 27,000-ha Chan May-Lang Co EZ will become an important sea transport link to provide deep-water port services and transport of goods to the central economic region as well as an international gateway. (Youth, VNS)
