On Feb 10, in Hanoi, CPA Australia - one of the world’s largest professional accounting bodies has presented a briefing in Hanoi to assist final year accounting students in Vietnam to gain employment.

CPA Australia President Alex Malley said despite the economic downturn there remained a global demand for high-quality accounting professionals with a thorough understanding of ethics, governance and strategic performance management.

“Employers are still looking to recruit graduates with these attributes and CPA Australia is grateful for the opportunity to assist K43 Accounting students to secure an advantage in the job market and gain vital information to help kick start their career.

Mr Malley said it was essential for young people to gather as much information as possible about future global accounting trends and how they could take advantage of employment opportunities.

“We know that employers have difficulty finding the right graduates,” he said.

“Also students can often find the job market daunting and may be unprepared for the expectations of the workplace.

“This briefing offers the ideal opportunity for students to learn to talk to, and network with, big recruiters, to find out what the job market is really like and gain tips and information on how to secure their first job.”

“It’s all about us helping students and graduates gain the necessary skills to be successful in the workplace and set themselves apart from other candidates.”

Mr Malley said growing the accounting profession and attracting high-quality members was a major focus of CPA Australia and was particularly relevant in the global financial crisis.

“CPA Australia is an international body and we are constantly seeking opportunities to strengthen our organisation through knowledge sharing and collaboration in international forums. We thank the Accounting Faculty of the Academy of Finance in Vietnam for this important opportunity.”
