Vietnam to Spend US$176.5M to Supply Fresh Water for Populous Islands by 2015
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just approved a fresh water supply project valued at VND3 trillion (US$176.5 million) for populous islands from now up to 2015.
The money will come from the state budget, economic sectors and other programs.
The project aims to meet demand for fresh water on the islands including Co To, Van Don (Quang Ninh), Cat Hai, Cat Ba, Bach Long Vi (Haiphong), Phu Quy (Binh Thuan) and Con Dao (Vung Tau) till 2015.
Under the project, fresh water reservoirs and irrigation systems will be built and upgraded in the islands. (Law & Society, Vietnam Post)
