Vietnam to Raise Minimal Wage by 20 per cent Next Month
The government of Vietnam has decided to increase minimal wage by 20 per cent to VND650,000 (US$38.37)/monthly from May 1 this year as part of government efforts to mitigate bad impacts of the economic slowdown.
The government also said that it will hike by 5 per cent of pensions from that time.
The government cautioned that firms should avoid taking advantages to hike prices of consumer goods.
This is the first time so far this year the government has decided to raise minimal monthly salary and pension.
The government plans to increase minimal salary to VND777,600 (US$45.9)/monthly next year, the state media said.
