On 8 April, at Sofitel Saigon hotel, after a period of transferring from CDMA to GSM, Vietnamobile officially launches its GSM network nationwide with a commitment to providing service of highest quality.

The outstanding feature of Vietnamobile is the per-second basis billing package (right from the very first second) with the lowest face value of phone cards and the only basic charge VM one for all phone calls (both internal and external calls). Mr Pham Ngoc Lang, Chairman of Hanoi Telecom’s Board of Directors, states that, “the target of Vinamobile is to bring customers the most convenient service in terms of price, quality and convenience.”

Vietnamobile – the latest national GSM network – is born under the business cooperation contract between Hanoi Telecom and Hutchinson Group. The technology switch-over from CDMA to GSM helps Vietnamobile have a better competitive advantage by providing lots of new services at price levels which are completely suited to Vietnamese. It is estimated that one month from its launch, Vietnamobile will implement 10,000 points of sales nationwide to serve customers.
