Vietnam Dung Quat Shipbuilder Wins Deals to Build 27 Ships This Yr
The Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Corporation has said it had inked many contracts with its domestic and foreign partners to build 27 vessels from now until 2010.
The Corp will build three 105,000-ton ships for the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and twenty-two 54,000-ton ships for the Ocean Transport Company and its foreign partners.
The corporation is scheduled to launch one 104,000-ton ship by June 2009 and one 105,000-ton vessel by late this year.
It is now speeding up construction of a 104,000-ton ship for the Dung Quat oil refinery.
Deputy General Director Dinh Tien Dung said his corporation has mobilized engineers from northern shipyards and train staff so as to implement the recently-signed contracts.
The company has also invested more than VND4 trillion to upgrade and increase its infrastructure and to buy modern equipment in order to meet orders received by the company, the director added. (VoV)
