Up to 52 per cent of the Vietnamese consumers surveyed by TNS Vietnam said to tighten their belt this year, TNS Vietnam was quoted by the online VietnamNet.

Ralf Matthaes, managing director of TNS Vietnam told a meeting on Monday on building trademarks in Hanoi that despite being the most optimistic nation in Asia, numbers of Vietnamese people afraid of losing jobs now are rising.

Numbers of surveyed consumers with gloomy outlook rise to 35 per cent from 18 per cent and of losing jobs jumped fourfold to 46 per cent from 9 per cent, Ralf Matthaes noted.

“Losing jobs is among three fears of health, family issues haunting them now,” he added.
Recreation, restaurant spending will be cut sharply, followed by electronic and electric products, he forecast.

This is a golden chance to boost sales of domestically made goods, he added. (VietnamNet)
