Australia Favors Vietnam to ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Zone
Deputy Foreign Minister and Ambassador of Australian to the ASEAN Gillian Bird, who visited Vietnam on May 13-14, said that his country would assist Vietnam in implementing the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA).
The agreement, in which tripartite sides pledge to remove 90 per cent of taxes and open up their service and investment market by 2018, will facilitate the commodity trade by providing importers and exporters with streamlined administrative procedures and information updates, Gillian Bird said Thursday.
During her meeting with Vietnamese counterpart Doan Xuan Hung, the Australian diplomat said Australia will provide technical assistance for and strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in such areas as infrastructure development, education, human resource training scholarship and transport.
