Vietnam Construction Posts VND41.398B of Production Value in Jan-May

Vietnam’s construction sector was estimated to have posted its production and business value of VND41.398 trillion (US$2.587 billion) in the first five months, making up 35 per cent of the whole year’s plan and equaling the figure of the same period of last year. 
 
The construction ministry said many firms’ production in May was a little bit brighter after many months sunk by the global downturn.
 
The assembling sector had total production value of VND18.919 trillion (US$1.182 billion), an on-year increase of 6.6 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, the sector’s industrial production value gained VND14.097 trillion (US$881.062 million).
 
In the month, the construction sector exported around US$20.9 million worth of products while spending nearly US$117 million on machine and equipment imports. (New Hanoi)
