Unofficial Mid-year Consultative Group Meeting to Open
The World Bank (WB) in Vietnam said the Unofficial Mid-year Consultative Group (CG) Meeting for Vietnam is set to take on June 8 - 9, 2009 in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak province.
The meeting will focus on assessing the macroeconomic situation, recent developments and growth, forecasts for 2009, social impacts due to the economic slowdown and the Government’s policy response. Delegates attending the event will also discuss the Vietnam Business Forum’s report on governance and anti-corruption measures and focus on implementing the anti-corruption strategy towards 2020, climate change: adaptation and mitigation, progress on harmonisation agenda and aid efficiency.
Alongside the main meeting, a separate mid-term Vietnam Business Forum with the business community, both domestic and foreign, will be held on June 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. The topics for discussion will include impressions from local and foreign firms on the current business environment, the administration reform project’s survey on administrative obstacles for businesses and investors, and a discussion on banking and capital markets, manufacturing, and distribution and tourism.
