Biggest-ever Container Ship Comes to Vietnam

SP-PSA International Port in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on May 28 welcomed a 80,000-DWT ship from Singapore, the biggest-ever ship to Vietnam.
 
The Alexandrite ship is 290 meters long and has capacity of 4,000 containers. It will help to clear passage technically for the port and prepare to open direct passages for goods from Vietnam to European countries, not through transshipment ports in other countries.
 
Construction on the SP-PSA port worth US$240 million, started in October 2007 and ends tomorrow [May 29].
 
On June 3, the first shipment of APL ship will leave the port to the U.S. (HCM City Law)
