Vietnam Central Port Handles 1.15M Tons of Cargos In Jan-May

Vietnam’s central Danang port is estimated to have handled roughly 1.15 million tons of cargo in the first five months of this year, up some 3 per cent on-year.

During the period, exports transported through the port increased 2.8 folds against imports, mainly goods such as cement, fertilizer, animal feed, forestry products and foodstuff.

The sharp cargo rise is attributed to the port’s big investment to upgrade infrastructure. Despite receiving a large number of ships, it takes just six hours to dismantle a 300-TEU vessel at the port thanks to a modern container handling system and large depots.

Separately, Cat Lai Port in Ho Chi Minh City served 753,599 TEU of cargoes in the five-month time, including 344,029 exports, up 13 per cent on-year. (Saigon Liberation)
