Belgian, Qatar Groups to Invest in Vietnam Northern Port
Four companies from Belgium and Qatar will invest US$500 million to develop Lach Huyen International Port, northern Hai Phong city, state media said.
Under an agreement signed with the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) in March 2009, Rent A Port and Antwerp from Belgium and IPEM and United Development Co from Qatar will invest US$250 million to build Terminal No 3 & 4.
The foreign investors will inject the rest to build a 400-hectare logistics centers at the port in Cat Hai district.
Under the agreement, Vinalines will build Terminal No. 1 & 2 of the port.
On May 29, Rent A Port Group had a meeting with Haiphong authorities on the investment. However, more details about this has not made available at the moment. (Labor, Investment, Industry & Trade)
