Vietnam May Have 7 More Power Source Projects
Vietnam is in negotiations with domestic and foreign investors to build seven more power generation projects with a combined capacity of 7,950 MW in the country, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
Four of the power projects including Mong Duong, Vinh Tan 1, Vung Ang 2 and Hai Duong are under negotiation process, while the three remaining of Nghi Son 2, O Mon and Vung Ang 3 are waiting for investors.
Over the past ten years, apart from Phu My 2.2 and Phu My 3 in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the Southeast Asian country has not yet succeeded in developing any other foreign-invested power projects.
In the first five months of this year, the state-run Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) put into operation nine power plants with a combined capacity of 2,736 MW and 189 power grid works.
The country expects to put into operation 15 power plants with a combined capacity of 3,570 MW within this year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
