Vietnam to Get US$100M from ADB To Build Int’l Standard Science University

The government of Vietnam plans to borrow US$100 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to build an international standard university of sciences at Hoa Lac High-tech Park this year.
 
The university, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, will be a leading university for sciences in Vietnam and hopes to become one of the top 200 in the world by 2020.
 
Its construction is expected to be finished by 2012 when it will open at least three faculties. That will increase to at least seven by 2016.
 
The French government will finance EUR100 million (US$139.9 million) to help Vietnam train 400 PhDs for the university in ten years.
 
The Ministry of Education and Training is planning to build four international standard universities in Vietnam and position the country’s education in the world map by 2020.
 
Vietnam now has 369 universities and colleges. (New Hanoi, Vietnamnet)
