Dak Uy Coffee Company 3: Expanding Production and Business
At present, Dak Uy Coffee Company 3 is managing and exploiting 513 hectares of coffee, 95 hectares of rubber and 77 hectares of wet rice field. The coffee growing land is located in three districts of Dak Ha, Sa Thay and Dak Glei. After a good crop in 2008, all coffee plantations are now in good condition. The productivity has declined this year but still met the production target.
The company expects to harvest 15 tonnes of coffee per hectare in Dak Ha District, at 12 tonnes per hectare in Sa Thay District and at 11 tonnes per hectare in Dak Long District.
Mr Nguyen Cao Bien, Director of Dak Uy Coffee Company 3, said: “The Vietnam Coffee Corporation (Vinacafe) has released the Decision 122/QD-TCT on adding new business scopes for the company, which include trading agricultural materials and petroleum. The company is building material shops and petroleum stations in Sa Thay District, which are expected to be put into operation this year. The presence of new shops will help reduce local production costs for both the company and local customers.
In early 2009, both enterprises and the people gain benefits from preferential capital originated from the stimulus packages launched by the Government. The lending interest rate for agricultural investment is now 5 % per annum and 11 - 12 % per annum in other fields. This is a good condition for the company to invest in boosting productivity and output.
In Sa Thay and Dak Glei districts, financial conditions of farming contractors are difficult. The company has advanced money for living and investment for local farmers to continue their cultivation. Mr Bien said, in addition to business front, the company also carries out several public utilities projects in Dak Glei, Sa Thay and Kon Klok. Especially, it cooperates with security forces to keep the security in border and remote areas.
