Dak Uy Coffee Company 2: Improvement in Farming Methods

Mr Pham Van Som, Director of Dak Uy Coffee Company 2, said his company did not have poor households, 25 families have built new houses and many others purchased motorbikes, TV sets, fridges and other living conveniences. The company also pays great attention to protecting living conditions for its labourers. So far this year, it has given medical check up for 182 workers, supplied 246 safety working clothes, provided medicines for 187 people, paid nearly VND15 million of healthcare fees for workers, sent eight officials to long-term training courses and 18 to short-term courses, trained occupational skills for 25 people. It also purchases social insurance and health insurance for its workers.
 
Dak Uy Coffee Company 2 reported to nearly complete transferring farming lands to farmers. It has completed drawing the balance sheet for 2008 and prepared for the 2009 financial statements. The State Audit of Vietnam hailed the company for financial transparency.
 
In the first six months of 2009, the company invests in VND2.86 billion, paid VND1.056 billion to the State Budget, spent VND686 million on insurance policies, including VND49 million for unemployment insurances. It has invested VND1.084 billion into a joint venture with Laos.
 
From now to the end of 2009, the company will continue to invest in building drying yards, transplanting 30 hectares of coffee, purchasing automobiles and equipment, trading agricultural materials and others. It will also map out business plans for the 2009-2010 crop.
