Vietnam Forecast to Incur US$5.88B Trade Gap in Sept-Dec: Ministry
Vietnam is forecast to see a trade gap of US$5.88 billion from September to December, raising the country’s trade deficit to US$11 billion in 2009, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
On average, the country’s monthly trade gap is estimated at US$1.47 billion in the September-December period.
Vietnam’s trade deficit was US$5.121 billion in the first eight months of this year, down from US$15.828 billion of the same period last year, reported the ministry
The ministry estimated Vietnam reaped US$37.255 billion from exported goods during the period, down 14.2% on-year, and spent US$42.376 billion on imports, an on-year fall of 28.2%.
It is hard for Vietnam to realize the ministry’s revised-down targets of US$64.57 billion in export value and US$72.6 billion in import spending this year, up 3% and down 10% on-year, respectively, economists said. (Life & Law)
