EU Helps Support Health Capacity

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health signed a €16.65 million financial agreement with the Delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam for the Health Sector Capacity Support Project (HSCSP) on September 18 in Hanoi.

Under the agreement, the EuropeanCommission will contribute €14.75 million, including €2 million from Luxembourg. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Government offers €1.4 million, and Germany €0.5 million in kind for the project’s implementation.

The HSCSP, scheduled to be implemented from November 2010 through December 2013, aims to improve people’s health, especially the poor and reduce the country’s poverty rate. This is part of the EC’s program to assist Vietnam, worth of €40 million per year.
