U.S. Firm to Build US$2.3B Airport in Northern Vietnam

The U.S-based Rockingham Asset Management Company will begin construction on an airport at a cost of US$2.3 billion in Vietnam’s northern province of Quang Ninh next year.
 
The U.S. firm is scheduled to build Van Don Airport into three phases under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode and to complete it by 2030, the agency added.
 
With the airport, Van Don district is aimed to become an international trade center, a driving force for the northern Vietnam’s economic development by 2020 under the prime minister’s recent approval.
 
It is forecast to receive 1.5 million tourist arrivals per year by 2020. (News)

Vietnam licensed 62,000 new businesses with a combined registered capital of VND333 trillion (US$18.66 billion) in the first nine months of this year.
 
The figures represent an on-year increase of 26% in business number but down 15.4% in capital value.
 
Vietnam expects to license 14,000 more businesses from now to the year-end. (Investment)
