Vitas Estimates Apparel Exports to Japan Up 20% to US$1B This Year
The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) estimates the country’s apparel export revenues to Japan will rise 20% from a year earlier to US$1 billion this year.
Approx 80% of Vietnamese garment makers have received orders till the end of the year, the association said, adding that 30%-40% of those orders were from Japan.
Saigon 3 Garment JS Company said its orders from Japan rose 20% from last year. The firm had signed contracts with Japanese clothing firms to supply garments till mid-2010.
Saigon 3 Garment JS Company shipped US$16.7 million worth of apparels to the Japanese market in the first seven months of this year, up 81.1% against the same period of 2008. (VNA)
