Vietnam PM Approves Maritime Transport Plan Through 2020

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a master maritime transport development plan through 2020 and a vision for further development by 2030.
 
Under the plan, domestic ships are targeted to transport between 215 and 260 million tons of cargo a year by 2020, the government of Vietnam said on its website.
 
Meanwhile, the number of passengers is expected to reach from 9 million to 10 million each year by 2020.
 
Vietnam will focus on developing vessels of up to 300,000-DWT, in the 2015-2020 period. 
 
The country also aims to build new deep-water seaports, including international trans-shipment ports and international gateway ports in key economic areas.
 
The PM has asked the Ministry of Transport to supervise the plan implementation and submit measures to ensure the efficiency. (chinhphu.vn)
