S.Korea Taekwang to Build $4.5B Power Plant in Vietnam Northern Province

Taekwang Vina Industrial Co., Ltd has received an approval from the Vietnamese government to build a coal-fired power plant worth $4.5 billion in the northern province of Nam Dinh.
 
Taekwang Vina will contribute 95% of the plant’s total investment and its Vietnamese partner – Hashinco the remaining.
 
The plant will be built under the form of Building-Operation and Transfer (BOT) on a 251-hectare area in Hai Hau district.
 
The plant will have a capacity of 1,200 MW in the first phase ending in 2017 and its capacity will be raised to 2,400 MW in the second stage ending 2021.
 
The Korean firm will operate the plant within 25 years and earn $25 billion, said Park Yoen Cha, Taekwang’s director. (Pioneer)
