VRG Targets to Grow 100,000 Ha of Rubber abroad by 2012
The Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) plans to grow 100,000 hectares of rubber in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar by 2012.
In 2009, VRG planted 10,000 hectares of rubber in Cambodia and 21,000 hectares in Laos. The group is negotiating with Myanmar for land lease.
The group needs VND10 trillion to expand rubber plantation and build rubber latex processing plants in 2010.
It has 27 companies-members with more than 155,000 hectares of rubber and annual production output of 330,000 tons of rubber latex. (Liberated Saigon)
