Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged ministries and other agencies to speed up preparations on the Ninh Binh – Thanh Hoa expressway project which will require a total cost of VND25 trillion.

Dung was quoted by the Lao Dong newspaper as saying that the northern expressway project should be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The six-lane expressway will be 121 kilometers long and is expected to help ease traffic jams on the National Highway No. 1A.

Vietnamese government is now seeking financial supports from the World Bank and other foreign donors for the project whose main investor is Vietnam Cement Cooperation.

The Ninh Binh-Thanh Hoa Expressway will be one of the first two pilot projects to be applied with such model, which aims to help reduce the government’s expenses. Another is the Dau Giay-Phan Thiet expressway. (Labor)
