A multi-national private oil and gas consortium named SaoNam Petro, the first of its kind in Vietnam, was made debut in Hanoi on March 16.

The consortium was founded by DSME of the South Korea, AGR of Norway, Longbeach Oil and Otto Energy of Australia.

SaoNam Petro will explore and produce oil and gas at fields offshore Vietnam, said Pham Van Quang, the consortium’s chairman.

The consortium will also invest in oil and gas storages, trans-national gas pipelines, and oil and gas extracting and refilling stations, Quang attributed.

This year, SaoNam Petro will concentrate on projects to produce oil and gas offshore Vietnam, on building a plant producing Dimethyl Ether (DME) – a clean liquefied petroleum gas, and on constructing oil and gas storages in the northern region. (VNA)
