Vietnam Needs 9.1 Million Tons of Fertilizers in 2010
Vietnam’s demand for fertilizers is approximately 9.1 million tons this year, including 2 million tons of urea, 700,000 tons of SA, 750,000 tons of DAP, 3.3 million tons of NPK, 1.6 million tons of phosphates and 850,000 tons of potassium.
However, local fertilizer producers supply only 60% of the demand and the country has to import fertilizers from 27 countries, including China, South Korea, Russia.
In the first two months this year, the South Asian country imported 1.01 million tons of fertilizers worth of US$293 million, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.
For coming summer-autumn crop, local firms are stockpiling 661,000 tons of urea, 128,000 tons of DAP, 190,000 tons of potassium, 350,000 tons of phosphates, 1.3 million tons of NPK and 30,000 tons of other kinds of fertilizers, which will meet the demand. (The People)
