Experts of the U.S.-based IBM Corporation have proposed the Ho Chi Minh City to carry out seven projects to become a “smart city”.

The proposals were made by Guruduth Banavar, vice president and chief technology officer of IBM’s global public sector, during its three-week visit to HCM City ending March 11.

His team had been looking at the departments of transport, natural resources and environment, agriculture and the food supply chain to help the city improve services and facilities.

The team is studying the city’s ecosystem innovations to advise the city on technology innovations. IBM plans to offer high technology solutions for the city’s projects in transport, food safety, water environment and e-government.

HCM City was selected as the world’s first city to receive IBM experts to advise about the smarter cities campaign thanks to its high GDP growth of 7%/year, which is forecast to increase in the next few decades, Banavar said. (Saigon Economic Times)
