The InterContinental Asiana Saigon hosted the World Economic Forum on East Asia on 6 and 7 June 2010. The city's newest five star luxury hotel played host to over 300 delegates from multiple continents enjoying highest service levels while accommodated at the hotel & residence complex and hosted seminars, plenary sessions and conferences for its attendants.
"It has certainly been an honor to host an event of such global stature here in our hotel and with the strong presence of the InterContinental Hotel Group we were certain that our team took its vital part from pre-planning to seamless execution," said Mr. Thomas Schmelter, Area General Manager for IHG in Vietnam.
"The event has featured dignitaries from as far as USA, Canada, France, Switzerland and the Middle East, and I have seen each and every team member of the hotel dedicated to this Forum including the coordination with a variety of ministries and governmental authorities, the police, the department of foreign affairs, the health ministry and the fire department which led to the resounding success that we have seen in Saigon in the past few days," said Mr. Schmelter.
The 19th World Economic Forum on East Asia was hosted in Vietnam - the chair of ASEAN in 2010, for the first time in 2010 in order to explore the many facets of the region's rising economic influence such as how high-growth economies can improve their competitiveness through developing innovation driven, green economies. At the same time, the discussions will consider to what extent ongoing regional integration will serve as the basis for Asian leaders to assume a greater leadership role in global cooperation.
